CLARE ace Podge Collins will have dual roles with the Banner again next year.
The Cratloe clubman — currently recovering from a cruciate knee injury — opted
to line out for the Banner footballers, managed by his father Colm, this
year after Davy Fitzgerald’s ultimatum for dual players to choose one code.
Despite refusing to comment, it is believed Fitzgerald has had a change of
heart as he bids to bounce back from two disappointing campaigns since
All-Ireland glory in 2013.
Collins played a huge role in that Liam MacCarthy success, clinching an
All-Star and receiving nominations for Young Hurler and Hurler of the Year
for his exploits in their attack.
The Clare panel will resume training next month ahead of the 2016 campaign and
several changes are expected.
Under-21 star David Fitzgerald is set to be drafted into the seniors by his
namesake, along with Ian Galvin and Michael O’Loughlin.
