Thibaut Courtois has rocked Chelsea by admitting he could leave the club to move back to Spain.
The goalkeeper has two children in Madrid and says he is looking to relocate to spend more time with them.
Courtois, 24, could reject a new Blues deal even if they agree to double his £100,000-a-week wages – SunSport told you he could leave for free in 2019.
Both of Courtois’ children, son Nicolas and daughter Adriana, live with his former partner Marta Dominguez.
Courtois has been strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid – with reports Zinedine Zidane is in the market for a new goalkeeper.
And Courtois admits he does not see himself staying at Stamford Bridge for the long term given his personal situation.
Courtois told LaSexta: “Everybody knows that due to my personal situation, Spain attracts me.
“If it is not now, it will be in some years. I’m calm.
“I’m happy at Chelsea. I just want to wait [over contract talks] because now there are many games and I prefer to have my head focused on that.”
Courtois has 18 months left to run on his current deal with the Premier League champions.
A move to Atletico looks likely should he make the journey back to Spain.
Courtois spent three years on loan at Atletico from Chelsea between 2011-14.
While there he won La Liga and the Europa League.
