David De Gea has reportedly asked Sergio Ramos to help him finally become a Real Madrid player.
The Manchester United goalkeeper has long been linked with a switch to Bernabeu, coming within seconds of completing the switch in August 2015.
A paperwork glitch on deadline day prevented that move from materialising, but the former Atletico Madrid shotstopper has not given up hope of a return to the Spanish capital.
Portuguese newspaper A Bola claim that he has used the international break to bend the ear of Spain and Real captain Ramos for help in achieving his goal.
And they also report that he has formally asked the defender to formally ask Bernabeu boss Zinedine Zidane to sign him.
Despite these latest reports, De Gea has begun the new season in fine form for the Red Devils.
He has yet to concede as United have thumped Swansea, West Ham and Leicester to make a 100 per cent start to the Premier League campaign.
De Gea is under contract at Old Trafford until 2019 and has the option of extending it further by 12 months.
United chiefs were prepared to give the Spanish goalkeeper a boost on his £200,000-a-week deal to keep him away from Madrid.
However, plans to hand him a mega-money pay hike were put on hold this summer as the Champions League holders cooled their interest.
SunSport revealed last month that Jose Mourinho would sanction the 26-year-old’s departure to Madrid if they can secure a deal to sign Gianluigi Donnarumma from AC Milan.
The highly-rated Donnarumma announced he would not be signing a new contract at Milan, before bowing to fan-pressure and penning a new £150,000-a-week extension.
However, should the Rossoneri fail to make the Champions League next season, he is expected to leave the San Siro in the summer, with United likely to swoop.
The summer transfer window was one the craziest we have ever seen.
