Kylian Mbappe held Arsenal transfer talks with Arsene Wenger last month

According to reports, the Monaco star spoke for three hours with the Gunners boss

Kylian Mbappe is almost certainly going to be one of those top players that Arsenal nearly signed.

However, reports like these will give Arsenal fans some hope that they can still mix it with the big boys.

Mbappe reportedly held a three-hour meeting with Gunners boss Arsene Wenger last month, with France Football claiming the Monaco star is still a top target for the North London club.

It is claimed that Mbappe and Wenger met on June 14 after France and England’s international friendly in Paris.

The Arsenal boss allegedly told Mbappe that he should be aiming for an Emirates move in order to further develop his career.

Real Madrid are also interested but Wenger believes he can offer the youngster the football he needs to progress into a world-class player.

However, Arsenal will need to dig deep after already seeing an £87million bid rejected.

The report adds the Gunners may have to shell out a world-record £130m for Mbappe’s signature instead.

And there are further complications, with the player himself preferring a move to Real.

Aside from Lacazette, left-back Sead Kolasinac is the only other arrival in north London.

But Arsenal are edging close to Mbappe’s Monaco teammate Thomas Lemar and also fancy Toulouse’s highly-rated young goalkeeper Alban Lafont.

However, Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil are yet to agree new contracts as they enter the final year of their respective deals.
