Cesc Fabregas is at the centre of a £25million transfer battle between ManUnited and bitter rivals Liverpool.
Jurgen Klopp has triggered a tug of war by entering the race to offer Chelsea’s World Cup-winning midfielder a fresh start after a season of frustration.
And Fabregas’ old Blues manager Jose Mourinho is also a long-time admirer of the hugely-experienced playmaker and is keen to take him to Old Trafford as part of his summer spending plans.
Klopp wants to beef up his midfield, particularly in the light of growing interest from Barcelona in Philippe Coutinho.
AC Milan, Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid and Chinese Super League clubs are also interested in Fabregas but he favours staying in England.
The 29-year-old Spaniard has found it hard to nail down a starting spot at the Bridge this term following the arrival of £29m N’Golo Kante last year.
The fact Kante has been honoured as the PFA Player of the Year by his fellow pros only makes the outlook more grim.
Fabregas still has two years to run on his deal and has previously declared he is relaxed about the situation.
And while he was on the bench for Chelsea’s 3-0 win at Everton on Sunday, his influence in the quest for the Premier League title has grown over the course of the season.
