That’s another thrilling Champions League draw done and dusted, then.
As we expected, fists were bumped, waffle was said and balls were opened – but aside from all the usual drab, we’ve actually got ourselves a pretty exciting group stage to look forward to.
Premier League champions Liverpool will play the likes of Ajax and last season’s surprise package Atalanta, the pick of Man City’s opponents in Group C is Porto, while Chelsea will take on the Europa League winners Sevilla.
But Man United, returning to the Champions League after a year out of the competition, were drawn against Paris Saint-Germain – a side they famously knocked out in March 2019 in one of the great European clashes of recent times – as well as last season’s semi-finalists Leipzig.
Elsewhere, holders Bayern Munich face Atletico Madrid, while Cristiano Ronaldo’s Juventus will take on Lionel Messi’s Barcelona.
