Dream Team Bets Club: An Old Trafford goal fest and a former Toffee delight

The slump following the winter break has well and truly passed.

The FA Cup gifted us with a jam-packed midweek of football, including Chelsea’s dominant 2-0 win over Liverpool.

And with six of the eight favourites winning, we’re in acca dreamland!

And the fun continues this weekend with the Premier League in full swing.

All eyes on Sunday’s Manchester Derby, which Ole Gunnar Solksjaer said during the week could be a ‘classic’ and we’re backing a goal fest at Old Trafford as City seek revenge for their two defeats to their cross-city rivals this season.

Ighalo has netted two goals in two starts since joining the Red Devils in January and you can get him and Raheem Sterling – who’s well-rested after playing just five minutes against Sheffield Wednesday on, um, Wednesday – to score at 8/1 this week.

And Chelsea go up against Everton in the early kick-off on Sunday, where we reckon former Toffee academy graduate Ross Barkley will have more fun against Merseyside competition after scoring against Liverpool in the cup.

Barkley is 10/1 to score outside the box against Everton.

As previously mentioned, the FA Cup fifth round was an acca delight.

With the likes of Man United, Leicester, Man City, Sheffield United, Newcastle and Arsenal all picking up expected victories – although Leicester left it late with Ricardo Pereira bagging the winner in the 83rd minute.

While the Blades’ skipper Billy Sharp scored the winning goal in the extra time in the 106th minute.

Liverpool have been our go-to side when we’ve needed a bit of filler in our weekend accas this season, but we’re not feeling quite so confident about the Reds after the last couple of weeks…

Their midweek defeat to Chelsea finished off a pretty distressing run of games for Jurgen Klopp’s side as it rounded off their third defeat in four matches.

Their narrow victory over lowly Bournemouth yesterday – which saw the Cherries net an early opener – did little to convince us otherwise.

If that wasn’t bad enough, Norwich – bottom of the Premier League and doomed for relegation, even though they did beat Leicester on Monday – were able to equalise late on in their FA Cup clash against Spurs, before securing safe passage to the next round in a pretty dramatic penalty shootout win.

Oh, Wigan, what are we going to do with you?

Our lovely Latics have been one of the surprise form teams of the Championship over the last couple of weeks, picking up three wins and two draws in their last five matches – including a shock 1-0 victory over table-toppers West Brom last time out.

That certainly kept things interesting at the top and the bottom of the league table.

Naturally, then, in their Saturday afternoon home game against second-from-bottom Luton, who’ve also picked up some shock results recently, we were treated to the stalest of stalemates.

Big up the weekend wonders. Let’s make it one to remember:

  • Treat yourself to a pie at the game: Man City over 1.5 goals and Man Utd over 2.5 cards, 2/1 with Betway
  • Get an extra round in the pub tonight: Anthony Martial and Sergio Aguero both to score, 19/4 with Betway
  • Booking flights to Vegas right now: Ighalo and Sterling both to score and Bailly and Fernandinho both to be booked, 28/1 with Betway
