Croatia to hire Neil Warnock to get promotion back into the Nations League top flight

The Croatians need to get a promotion specialist in and Warnock could be just the man

Croatia are reportedly trying to hire Neil Warnock to get them promoted back to the UEFA Nations League top tier.

England came back to beat Croatia 2-1 at Wembley today and in doing so consigned them to relegation to the second division.

The Croatian FA have decided to take drastic measures in order to get back into the top flight.

Despite Zlatko Dalic taking the side to the World Cup final in the summer, an unofficial Croatian FA member Lee Satchell confirmed they were on the hunt for a new manager already.

“We were beaten 6-0 by Spain in the first game so I was instructed to sound out a promotion specialist just in case the worst came to the worst,” Satchell said.

“Obviously when we beat Spain this week I told Neil that we might not need him but after losing to England today we need to make a big change to come back up.”

Satchell added that a manager like Warnock could turn Dejan Lovren and Domagoj Vida into Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic in their prime.

After getting an unfancied Cardiff side promoted to the Premier League last season Croatia have targeted the 69-year-old as the ideal candidate to take them back up to the Nations League top tier for the next round of the tournament.

If Warnock decides to turn down the job for a crack at saving the Bluebirds from relegation in the league, Satchell revealed that Sam Allardyce and Tony Pulis were both on the reserve list.
