Well this has certainly blown the transfer window firmly open, hasn’t it?
And it would be completely unlike Cristiano Ronaldo to announce the decision while the World Cup is going on that he is no longer in.
We were still partly shocked that Ronaldo completed his move to Juventus for £105million today.
Even at 33, CR7 was utterly crucial for Real Madrid this season, keeping them in the Champions League spots in the league and almost single-handedly bringing a third consecutive Champions League trophy to the Bernabeu.
At one point in January he went on a run of scoring 21 goals in 11 games and finished as top scorer in Europe with 15 goals this season.
How are they going to replace that?
There is definitely another season or two of Ronaldo in this destructive form and it could prove to be an absolute masterstroke both on the pitch and off it.
However, for Real Madrid they need to get a box office replacement lined up, and quickly.
Think about all the CR7 fans they have just lost with this announcement.
And the worst part of it? They are going to be playing against their former talisman very, very soon.
We don’t whether this had been pre-agreed but Juventus are scheduled to play Real Madrid in a pre-season friendly in their USA tour.
The match is set for August 4th, which is a matter of weeks away.
We’re sure Juventus will have spoken to Florentino Perez and told him to make sure Sergio Ramos doesn’t injure their precious jewel before the season starts.
Personally, we cannot wait for this one.
