And reports in France claim White Hart Lane chiefs have reopened discussions with their Bordeaux opposite numbers about a deal for the 21-year-old.

The officials are also said to have got back in contact with Malcom’s advisors.

Inter Milan had made strenuous efforts to land Malcom, but are understood to have cooled their interest faced with his club’s £45million valuation.

The right winger has also attracted interest from Arsenal, while Chelsea are believed to have considered him as a replacement if in-demand talisman Eden Hazard leaves Stamford Bridge.

However it is Spurs who lead the race for his signature, having already pursued the South American during last season.

The former Corinthians prodigy, who Bordeaux signed for £4.5m in January 2016, is under contract until 2021.

He has won two Under-23 caps, and is on the verge of a senior national call-up following the team’s World Cup quarter-final exit against Belgium last Friday.
