On Tuesday night, Google searches of ‘Diogo Dalot’ went through the roof in the Manchester area.
Twitter scouts rushed to be an expert on the Portuguese defender with 8 Porto appearances to his name before he moved to Man United.
Two days later, the same happened with PSG midfielder Yacine Adli, amidst rumours claiming Arsenal had beaten Real Madrid and Bayern Munich to his signature.
So we thought we’d save you the hassle of having to do your research on the 17-year-old midfielder. Here’s everything you need to know about Yacine Adli.
He’s the French Fellaini
If you don’t know anything about a player you can always fall back on physical likeness to a current favourite.
Adli is gangly and has a bit of a mop for a haircut. If your Fellaini senses aren’t tingling then you’re in the wrong game.
Props to MIROP10 for posting this legally suspect YouTube compilation last year, although he loses points for not including HD in the title.
Expect aggressive back post headers and ‘accidental’ elbows galore.
He f****** hates hitting the post
Please, under no circumstances, allow Adli to hit the woodwork.
It appears his nerves are somehow connected up to the beans on toast, leading to crippling pain every time he makes contact.
We warn you, the below video is not an easy watch.
Arsenal fans are struggling to spell his name
A-D-L-I… it’s really not that hard.
Still, some Arsenal fans, presumably in their excitement, are managing to get his name wrong.
If they’re struggling now, just wait until Sokratis Papastathopoulos arrives.
Also, spare a though for Paul Merson.
There’s no pressure on his shoulders
Nothing helps a teenager settle in to life at a new club in a foreign country like comparing him to one of the best midfielders ever to play for your club.
Let’s pile the pressure on.
His similarity to fellow PSG academy graduate Adrien Rabiot has gone under the radar
Not everyone is clueless
We won’t pretend to have watched much of PSG’s Under-19 side this year. Sorry, but we just prefer RB Leipzig’s youth side.
Luckily there are people out there in the know.
So we’ll end this by pointing you in the direction of someone who knows what they are talking about.
