You might have heard something about quite a big football match happening this Saturday.
That’s right, the world will descend on Kiev as Liverpool and Real Madrid battle it out to be crowned European champions.
Everyone is talking about the damage Mo Salah can inflict on the Spaniards and how Liverpool can cope with Cristiano Ronaldo.
But they are forgetting about one man.
The third and least talked about spear of Jurgen Klopp’s lethal attacking trident is possibly the most dangerous, given the right circumstances.
While Salah gets all the plaudits for his Messi-esque dribbling and Firmino is underrated he is now firmly rated, Mane is a driving force that can be the difference in huge games.
Yes he can be a bit erratic and definitely has a few missed chances in him, but you can’t replace sheer, electric, thundering pace.
You just can’t.
As Martin Keown will tell you, pace is the thing all defenders are scared of.
And while most of the Real Madrid defence are worried about how Firmino is going to slip Salah in down the right, Mane could be slightly overlooked in terms of his danger.
Which would be a huge mistake.
After missing two criminal chances in the first leg against Roma, one on either foot, Mane found the back of the net in both legs of the semi-final.
Being in the right position to touch home Liverpool’s third goal at Anfield – after Salah had sucked in the Roma defence.
Then in the second leg he gave the Reds a crucial away goal as he finished a typical heavy metal counter.
Firmino picked up the ball and and Mane was immediately away, speeding away from the Roma defence then rifling the ball past Alisson in goal.
Ronaldo leads the way for goals in Europe this season with 15 and while Mane is not going to catch him, he is just one behind his more illustrious teammates Salah and Firmino with nine goals in this season’s competition.
He’s also hit another 10 in the Premier League and provided seven assists.
The fit-again Dani Carvajal will need to focus on defending as much as attacking if he is going to keep Mane quiet for a whole game.
Sun Bets are offering 8/1 on Mane open the scoring against Real Madrid’s sometimes leaky defence.
In addition, if the match all comes down to Mane’s influence you can get 9/1 on Mane scoring anytime and Liverpool winning and a juicy 40/1 on Mane scoring, Liverpool winning and him assisting Salah or Firmino.
Show me the Mane.
