We’ve seen David De Gea do this all season and everyone talks about how many points he’s saved Man United.
Well Huddersfield’s Jonas Lossl just secured their Premier League status for another season with a mind blowing save.
There’s a history of brilliant Danish keepers in the Prem but we didn’t know Lossl had this in the locker.
I’ll set the scene.
Lauren Depoitre transformed into a bulldozer to open the scoring early in the second half.
The Belgian unit sent Willy Caballero into another dimension in a collision on the edge of the area before nudging the ball home.
With Huddersfield needing just a point to avoid relegation there was relief among the fans.
But then Marcos Alonso channelled his inner James Milner and got an equaliser after the ball ricocheted off his face into the net.
From that moment on it was all Chelsea as they pushed for the win that would see them keep up with Spurs and Liverpool in the race for the top 4.
Then came an almighty goalmouth scramble leading to Lossl’s Spiderman save.
What felt like minutes of pinball in the Huddersfield penalty, with bodies lay strewn and the ball rebounding in every direction, caused mayhem among defenders and attackers alike.
The ball suddenly popped up perfectly for Andreas Christensen to power a header goalward.
Lossl was already heading in the wrong direction before but with more agility than a cat he changed the direction of his weight and sprung up to tip the ball round the post.
Leaving Chelsea fans stunned not to see the ball rippling the back of the net.
And in doing so he kept the scores equal and secured Huddersfield’s Premier League status for another season.
With the resources they have available to them it is an incredible achievement.
Congratulations David Wagner and the Huddersfield team.
As for Chelsea, well they need Liverpool to lose to Brighton and Chelsea to win on the final day of the season.
