Klaassen joined Everton from Ajax last summer and much was expected of the midfielder after his £24million transfer.
The Dutchman was Ajax captain and had won three Eredivisie titles during his time in Holland.
Part of a transfer frenzy at the club, the midfielder immediately looked out of place in the Premier League as the new-look Everton side struggled to gel.

His case wasn’t helped by Ronald Koeman signing more attacking midfielders than he’s had hot dinners.
The Dutchman’s first team chances were further dented when Koeman was sacked and Sam Allardyce took charge.
Klaassen has made 15 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring just one goal.
It has been a spectacular fall from grace for the player who captained Ajax to the Europa League final against Man United last season.
