It feels like half the managers in Europe have been linked with the Arsenal job.
But nobody saw this coming.
The source who first revealed Jurgen Klopp was heading to Liverpool has revealed that the German gaffer’s assistant Zeljko Buvac is set to take over from Arsene Wenger at the end of the season.
Bosnian Buvac is said to have left Anfield for “personal reasons”, but rumours of a rift between him and Klopp have since surfaced.
A source in Buvac’s native Bosnia has now sensationally revealed he quit in order to take over at the Emirates.
Pravda BL claim a deal is signed and everything is arranged for the stunning move.
While the source may be little-known in this country, they do have form with their stunning managerial exclusives.
Shortly before Klopp took over the reins at Liverpool, Pravda BL spoke out about the impending move.
The same source also first reported Buvac’s exit from Anfield last week.
While Klopp is Liverpool’s attacking mastermind, Buvac is said to be the defensive genius, with Klopp nicknaming him ‘The Brains’ because of his astute organisational work.
In fact, Buvac is alleged to be the mastermind behind the “Gegenpress” tactics that have been a distinctive feature of Klopp’s Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool teams..
With the Gunners’ defence all at sea in recent seasons, it would be no surprise to see the club take on a boss with a greater tactical nous.
Buvac has assisted Klopp at Mainz, Dortmund and Liverpool but may be about to break out on his own.
The Gunners appointed Sven Mislintat as head of recruitment in November 2017.
The German will have worked with Buvac at Dortmund and it’s possible Mislintat’s role at Arsenal may influence the club’s decision, particularly in regard to Buvac.
Such a move would surely rock Liverpool, who have Buvac to thank for their improvement this season.
