Arsene Wenger’s long farewell really is in full swing.
So it was nice to see a classy touch from all involved at Man United despite 22 years of rivalry with the Frenchman.
After Wenger announced he was leaving Arsenal at the end of the season a couple of weeks ago, this became not only his last game at Old Trafford but also his last ever showdown with nemesis Jose Mourinho.
And even Mourinho was involved prior to kick off, joining Sir Alex Ferguson in honouring Wenger.
The three greatest managers in Premier League history, all in one place.
That followed a rousing standing ovation for the wily Gunners boss from the Old Trafford crowd too.
Given Wenger’s historic rivalry with United down the years it was a heartwarming moment for one of English football’s great visionaries.
And the fans absolutely loved it:
- Harry Kane is a national treasure but the ‘bullying’ claim is embarrassing
