Man United set to replace Luke Shaw with another talented left-back Jose Mourinho will probably hate

Celtic's Kieran Tierney has captained his club and country at 20-years-old but is Old Trafford really the right place for him to develop?

That Spiderman twin meme but with Luke Shaw and Kieran Tierney.

Man United are reportedly interested in replacing Jose Mourinho’s least favourite player with Celtic’s highly-rated left-back.

Shaw has been bullied into submission at Old Trafford and is fancied to escape his hate dungeon in the summer, with a move to Spurs heavily rumoured.

Jose’s next victim?

And the Daily Record claim United scouts are pushing Tierney’s name forward as the Golden Boy of Scottish football continues to improve on a weekly basis.

Mourinho is said to be a keen admirer of Juventus left-back Alex Sandro and the 27-year-old Brazilian is the more established talent having won back-to-back doubles with the Old Lady.

But Juventus value Sandro in excess of £60million and while high prices have rarely deterred United in the past, Tierney’s affordability would make him a more attractive option for the book-balancers.

However, this may come as a shock to United fans, Tierney may not want to move south of the border.

The 20-year-old, who has already captained club and country, signed a six-year deal with Celtic in October and said all the right things in terms of committing his future to the Scottish champions.

And while many players dream of representing United, Mourinho’s treatment of Shaw should act as a warning for young players across the continent.

Tierney has also operated in a back three for Brendan Rodgers’ league leaders, as well as a traditional left-back, with his adaptability being one of his strongest attributes.

Many Scottish fans place him above Liverpool’s Andy Robertson, who has arguably been the Premier League’s best left-back since the turn of the year.

Let’s not feed him to Jose, eh?
