Everyone said the same thing when Fabio Borini came on for Milan this evening

The former Chelsea and Liverpool forward made a brief cameo in the defeat to Arsenal

Nobody expected Arsenal to beat Milan tonight, considering how absolutely dreadful the Gunners have been lately.

But apparently, Milan has been awful as well this term and it showed, as the Gunners stormed home to a 2-0 win at the San Siro, thanks to goals from Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Aaron Ramsey – both expertly set-up by Mesut Ozil.

Arsene Wenger is under-fire at Arsenal after a horror show of a season

A lot has been said this season about the waning influence Arsenal have in the Premier League, with fans calling for manager Arsene Wenger to take a hike.

Their run in the league (they’re currently some 33-points off table-topping Man City) coupled by the losses of Alexis Sanchez, Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott have all been too much for some.

Especially when fans think back to the Arsenal of old, which boasted the likes of Thierry Henry and Patrick Viera and frequently challenged for the title.

But hey, it could be worse, right? They could be Milan.

Not the team of old, is it?

The Serie A giants were one of the best teams in Europe not too long ago, regularly challenging for Champions League titles with the likes of Cafu, Andrea Pirlo and Andriy Shevchenko in tow.

But things are very different these days.

The Rossoneri, who are currently headed by Gennaro Gattuso, are seventh in the Serie A table this season and are way off the top four. That’s even despite being on a fairly good run lately, and spending an absolute fortune over the summer.

In all his glory

And some fans felt the state of the once-great Italian side was summed up when Fabio Borini came off the bench with roughly 10 minutes left to play.

The former Liverpool and Sunderland forward was so bad when he was turning out in the Premier League, but for some reason Milan decided to loan the 26-year-old from the Black Cats.

Things might be bad right now, Arsenal fans, but at least you’re not bringing Fabio Borini off the bench.
