TOTTENHAM are considering a summer move for Stuttgart’s £11million defensive prodigy Benjamin Pavard.
The French centre-back, 21, has had an outstanding two years with his German club.
He made his senior France debut against Wales last November, and has won two caps for Les Bleus.
An ever-present for Stuttgart this term, he helped them win promotion back to the Bundesliga last May.
Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is eyeing defensive reinforcements this summer, with the future of Toby Alderweireld among others uncertain.
And a club spy checked on Pavard as Stuttgart won 3-2 at Cologne on Sunday, according to Bild.
The former Lille ace recently signed a contract extension until 2021, but declared himself ready to consider a move once the season is over.
Pavard said two weeks ago: “My main focus now is to make sure that we stay up.
“But I will take another look at how things are in the summer.”
Pavard could yet break into Didier Deschamps’ World Cup squad following his rapid progress.
He has played a major role in Stuttgart’s top-flight return, helping them to a surprise ninth place in the 18-team league.
Born in Maubeuge, he came through Lille’s academy before landing his move to southern Germany in 2016.
Pavard has appeared 28 times so far this season and helped his side to record nine clean sheets.
