Cristiano Ronaldo is a machine.
Just when PSG looked like they were beginning to dominate proceedings Ronaldo turned the tie in his favour in the flash of second.
Early in the second half Ronaldo headed in Lucas Vazquez’s perfect cross to give Madrid a crucial away goal.
And in doing so he equalled an incredible Champions League record.
The classic far post header, that we have seen so man times from the Madrid talisman, meant Ronaldo has scored in nine consecutive Champions League games, equalling the record set by Ruud van Nistlerooy in 2003.
Ronaldo extended his lead as this year’s top scorer with 12 goals in Europe so far, but he has scored 14 goals in his nine-game run compared to Van Nistlerooy’s 12.
Marcos Asensio put the wheels in motion when he raced half the length of the pitch to break away.
He turned Dani Alves back inside and then proceeded to roll the ball through the Brazilian’s leg and perfectly into the path of Vazquez.
The Spanish winger then chipped across the box and all Ronaldo had to do was hang at the far past and nod past Alphonse Areola.
The goal gave Real a 4-1 aggregate lead and meant PSG needed to score three goals in reply.
Despite his slow start to the season, Ronny has been in lethal form in Europe all season leading the scoring charts after the group stage then notching twice in the first leg and adding another tonight.
To make matters worse for PSG Marco Veratti was shown a second yellow for dissent and the Parisians had to play the last half an hour with 10 men.
Maybe next year lads.
