Pep Guardiola is set to join the race for teenage Fulham sensation Ryan Sessegnon.
Tottenham and Manchester United were leading the chase for the 17-year-old after his stunning Championship form.
But City will compete for the teenager, who is set to cost more than £40million, as they do not want to miss out on one of the hottest properties in Europe.
Sessegnon has hit double-figure for goals this season and has been likened to Gareth Bale after starting as a left-back.
The youngster, like Bale, is now impressing further up the field and has caught the eye of top clubs such as Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.
Fulham are braced for a summer bid for their prized asset but financially do not need to sell and can hold out for an incredible offer.
Sessegnon has played for England Under-19s but Gareth Southgate wants him at least with the Under-21s.
His form has even seen him suggested as having an outside chance of the World Cup squad this summer, with Southgate keen to promote youth.
Sessegnon, when asked about his England chances, said: “Why not? It will be a fantastic achievement for me to go.”
He helped his cause as he scored in Fulham’s 2-1 win against Derby.
