Fool me once, shame on you.
Fool me twice, shame on me.
Fool me three times and Willian makes it 1-0 to Chelsea.
Barcelona couldn’t have been overly shocked when Willian put Chelsea 1-0 up in their Champions League round of 16 game.
The Brazilian winger hit the post twice from almost identical areas in the first-half.
Both times it was Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets who was closest to the ball.
So when Chelsea got a corner in the 62nd minute Barcelona should have been prepared.
Cesc Fabregas played it short to Eden Hazard before two Barcelona defenders came to close the Belgian down.
Hazard got his head up and played the ball to an unmarked Willian on the edge of the box.
From the moment Hazard got the ball and subsequently passed to Willian it took six seconds for a Barcelona defender to get near the Brazilian.
By then it was all too late.
But when Lionel Messi is on the pitch it’s never a lost cause.
The 30-year-old equalised to end his 12 year wait for a goal against Chelsea.
That’s another ticked off the bucket list then.
