Ex-Brazil international claims Neymar could be a ‘disaster’ for Brazil at the World Cup

Walter Casagrande, who scored eight goals for Brazil, has labelled Neymar a 'monster' and says the PSG star could destroy the team ethic at the World Cup

There is never a dull moment where Neymar is concerned.

Ever since PSG smashed the world transfer record to bring the Brazilian to Paris it has been a bumpy ride.

There’s been public fallouts with Edinson Cavani, star-studded birthday parties, goals and tricks galore and questions about Neymar’s commitment to the team.

But none of that mattered as the 26-year-old was bought solely for the games against other European giants.

Games like Real Madrid in the last 16 of the Champions League.

The only thing is, except for getting booked, Neymar didn’t really do much and reportedly blasted his team mates in the dressing room after the 3-1 defeat.

Not too hot on team cohesion and morale, is he?

Well, former Brazil forward Walter Casagrande, who played 19 times for the Selecao, has taken aim at his national icon and fired off a whole clip of shots.

It does not make pretty reading.

Casagrande, who was part of Brazil’s 1986 World Cup squad, slammed Neymar’s behaviour at PSG describing him as a monster and questioning how he will act at the tournament in Russia.

“It bothers me that most fans and media are still patting Neymar on the back,” Casagrande told SporTV.

“He has already shown several inappropriate behaviours within a team. Against Real, he took a yellow in the first half and could have been sent off in the second.

“It would be disastrous if he acted like that at the World Cup. We are creating a monster which some consider a genius.”

Neymar has looked nothing short of brilliant for PSG this season.

He’s scored 18 goals and provided 11 assists in the league as well as six strikes in Europe.

Although the spectre of a possible move to Real Madrid in the summer still looms over the world’s most expensive player and performances like his on Wednesday will only stoke the mood in France.

Things have never been simple with Neymar.
