Everyone’s been raving about Liverpool’s attack this season and quite rightly so.
With the likes of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane
and Philippe Coutinho pulling the strings up front, Jurgen Klopp’s boys are arguably one of the most exciting teams to watch in the Premier League.
But quietly doing the business in the background is Loris Karius; Liverpool’s often-temperamental goalkeeper.
The German, who’s been the Reds’ No 1 in recent games, is starting to impress fans with his performances.
And it seems he’s finally starting to get some recognition, especially after making a very impressive save in the game against Southampton this evening.
With Liverpool 1-0 up, the Saints tried their best to level before the half-hour mark with a lovely header from James Ward-Prowse, but Karius was more than equal to it – pulling off a David De Gea-esque save.
And fans were very appreciative:
It also says a lot that Karius has been Klopp’s preferred choice in recent big games.
The former Mainz shot-stopper was between the sticks in clashes with Spurs, Man City and Everton in the FA Cup and has started six of their last eight games.
His WhoScored rating has improved lately too, with 7.1 and 7.0 ratings in his last two respective games against Huddersfield and Spurs.
You get the sense that Karius is only ever talked about when he makes a cock-up.
But we haven’t heard too much about him lately, have we?
