Rochdale’s pitch looks worse than your local Sunday league pitch

Rochdale host Millwall at Spotland Stadium and it is the worst pitch we have ever seen

Rochdale should be looking for a new groundsman.

Forget the lush green baizes of the Premier League, Spotland Park looks like a Sunday league turf crossed with your local donkey track.

Despite the state of the ground, with more brown to be seen than green, this tie has produced 15 goals in the last three meetings.

As the players come out of the tunnel they will tread across the snow that has been shovelled to the sidelines, then large muddy puddles before they make it onto the hallowed ‘grass’ which looks more like sand than anything.

Lionel Messi proved he is a footballing Jesus and can walk on water as the match was played out under two inches of rain.

If either Rochdale or Millwall plan on playing it around they should think again as route one looks like the only option to win this one.
