Arsenal fans are in dreamland.
After announcing a club-record deal for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (with the world’s most predictable video) the good news keeps rolling in.
Mesut Ozil has signed a new three-and-a-half year deal to stay at Arsenal, according to lord of the transfer market David Ornstein.
Ozil becomes the highest paid player in Arsenal’s history, taking home £350,000-a-week before tax.
But obviously it was his love for the club that won out in the end.
The new contract will put to bed any fears about Ozil following Alexis Sanchez to Man United in the summer.
Ozil’s new deal was reportedly agreed last weekend, but Arsenal conveniently waited until the day after a 3-1 defeat the the hands of Swansea to announce the fresh terms.
But we can’t help but feel that Arsenal missed out on breaking the internet.
Picture the scene.
Arsenal drop a video on Twitter.
It opens on Ozil signing a new deal, with Arsene Wenger sitting in the background playing the piano.
Ozil signs the contract, then turns to someone off camera and asks ‘how may I assist you’, before handing them the pen.
In comes Aubameyang, carried in on the shoulders of Henrikh Mkhitaryan, followed by the entire squad and Arsenal Fan TV playing as an Oompah band.
