Slowly but surely, it’s happening.
After numerous reports, tweets and rumours, it seems Alexis Sanchez is a mere whisker away from becoming a Manchester United player.
Speaking after United’s 1-0 win away to Burnley this afternoon, manager Jose Mourinho spoke openly about the deal, saying he expects it to happen “soon” and that is was “very close”.
Mourinho said: “It’s so close, so close, so close.
“I’m positive, I know my people is doing everything, absolutely everything they can, the owners with the green light, Mr. Woodward working hard, everybody is giving everything they can, and I think they will be successful.”
United have been front runners to snap up Sanchez from Arsenal this month, after their great rivals City baulked at the player’s wage demands.
In an interview yesterday, City gaffer Pep Guardiola spoke about Sanchez’s expected transfer to Old Trafford, saying: “What I know now is he is still Arsenal’s player, but I think he is going to go to United.
“So, congratulations for both of them.
“The players and their managers decide where they want to play – good luck.”
It’s been reported that United will pay Sanchez around £500,000 per week in wages, as well as other related bonuses, while his transfer fee could be up to £30 million.
Can’t help but feel that Arsenal are the real winners here, no matter what ArsenalFanTV says.
