We’ve spent the last week or so mentally preparing ourselves for Philippe Coutinho to don the No 14 shirt at Barcelona, following his £142 million signing from Liverpool.
But with Arda Turan moving to Istanbul Basaksehir on a loan until 2020, suddenly the highly desirable No 7 is available – and Coutinho has his beady eyes on it.
Turan wore the No 7 for two seasons at Barca, but has moved to Turkey during the January transfer window after falling further down the pecking-order with the arrival of Coutinho.
And reports in Spain claim the former Reds midfielder would certainly love to wear the iconic shirt, which is the same number he wore when he was at Inter Milan.
The number has a pretty rich history at the Nou Camp too, with the likes of Pep Guardiola, Luis Figo, Javier Saviola, Pedro, David Villa and Henrik Larsson wearing it previously.
Not a bad bunch, huh?
Coutinho is currently out of action with a thigh injury, but could return to full fitness as early as next weekend for the league game against Real Betis, or three days later in the Copa del Rey against his former club Espanyol.
With summer signing Ousmane Dembele back from injury and Lionel Messi as good as ever – we’re pretty excited by this Barca side.
