Merseyside rivals Liverpool and Everton met for the second time in the space of a month, this time in the FA Cup after a 1-1 draw in the league between the two at the start of December.
In the first encounter the Reds dominated proceedings but were pegged back by Wayne Rooney’s penalty following Dejan Lovren’s rather soft foul on Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
So what would happen tonight?
Well, for Liverpool fans anyway, it was a sense of retribution.
The Reds were awarded a dubious spotkick of their own at exactly the same end of the ground when Adam Lallana appeared to be hauled down by Mason Holgate.
