Premier League meet League One.
This is the ‘Jamie Vardy derby’.
Fleetwood Town, the team that gave Vardy his opportunity in league football host Leicester City, the team with which he amazingly won a Premiership winners’ medal.
The small town just outside Blackpool has been awash with excitement and promotions as one of the Premier League’s big boys come to town for an FA Cup match.
And everyone is looking forward to see their golden boy come back to town.
This is the original location of Vardy’s legendary parties.
A place of pure theatre.
One savvy pub manager has taken the opportunity to really make the most of the rare Vardy derby.
The Strawberry Gardens Pub will be running a limited edition ‘Vardy’s Return’ ale for fans of both sides to get down their necks before the third round clash.
“The whole town is buzzing about and Jamie Vardy’s return,” the pub’s manager Billy Melvin told I News. “We owe Jamie a lot in Fleetwood and naming an ale in his honour was the least we could do.”
The only slight downer on the occasion is that Vardy is still struggling with a groin injury that kept him out of last weekend’s match with Huddersfield and is likely to be rested.
We’re pretty sure he would have preferred a rave-coloured alcopop named after him anyway.
Fleetwood will be having a party if they win, that’s for sure.
