Apparently, Barcelona want to sign Philippe Coutinho.
This is the first we’re hearing about it, anyway.
According to multiple sources, the Liverpool playmaker is edging closer by the day to a move to the Nou Camp, with Barca keen to seal the deal this month.
We all remember the Catalan giants continuous pursuit of Coutinho in the final weeks of the summer transfer window, with the club tabling three fairly large bids for the Brazilian – which were all prompty turned down by the Reds.
But if you believe the back pages, then their next offer could be a cool £130 million – with £100m offered up front – which Liverpool will likely accept.
So, with the deal more-or-less tied up, the folks over at Diario Gol have claimed the Brazil star has already chosen what number he wants to wear for his new club.
And it’s a fairly familiar one.
Sources in Spain claim he’s opted for the number seven shirt, which sort of makes sense considering it’s the same number he wore when he was at Inter Milan.
What’s more, the number 10 he’s become accustomed to at Liverpool is already occupied by somebody.
However, there’s a catch.
And it’s a big, Turkish shaped catch, because Barca’s forgotten man Arda Turan currently holds the desired number.
That means Coutinho would need to either ask Turan nicely if he can have it, or for the former Atletico Madrid man to leave the club.
Luckily enough, the Turkey international has been heavily linked with a move away this month, with Everton, among others, heavily linked with him.
