Pep Guardiola has admitted Manchester City could be forced to make a bid for Alexis Sanchez in January.
The runaway Premier League leaders attempted to sign the Chilean last summer and are expected to finally get their man at the end of the season when his Arsenal contract runs out.
However, a likely month-long lay-off for Gabriel Jesus means Guardiola may be in need of attacking reinforcements sooner than expected.
Asked after the 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace whether he was planning a move for Sanchez, he explained: “He is a player from Arsenal and I think he is going to stay at Arsenal.
“Now it is just about recovering from today. Sometimes you ask for that but I have a lot of things in my mind.
“In two days, we have another game. In terms of what happens, we will have meetings and see what is best.
“But my feeling now is Alexis is an Arsenal player.”
Jesus landed awkwardly following a challenge and initially attempted to carry on playing.
However, he was in clear distress and left the pitch in tears.
After the match, he was spotted leaving Selhurst Park on crutches.
