Our thoughts go out to Romelu Lukaku and his family.
The big Belgian striker was left prone on the Old Trafford pitch after an aerial clash with Southampton’s Wesley Hoedt.
The game was stopped for five minutes as Lukaku received treatment from several medical staff.
He was left with a vacant stare as he lay on the pitch after a clash of head’s with Hoedt.
It looked very worrying for Lukaku as he was carried off on a stretcher in a neck brace and being given oxygen.
The collision occurred in the eighth minute after the Saints had dominated the opening exchanges.
Lukaku had earlier missed a free header on the six yard line which flew over the bar.
Marcus Rashford came on as a replacement but it could spell bad news for Jose Mourinho if Lukaku is ruled out for an extended period.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic wasn’t included in the Man United matchday squad, but he will expect to get some more game time with Lukaku on the sidelines.
Everyone in football will be hoping that Lukaku makes a full and speedy recovery as it looked like he was badly concussed from the clash.
There should also be applause for the way the medical staff treated the situation.
Get well soon Rom.
