On their day, can you name a better attacking duo in the Premier League than Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez?
Leicester’s speedy forwards took the Foxes all the way to the league title not too long ago, and continue to be their main outlet up front.
In this evening’s clash against Manchester United, Vardy and Mahrez linked up once again to put the Foxes ahead – finishing off one of their classic counter attacks.
Picking up the ball inside United’s half, Wilfred Ndidi hit a long ball up-field towards Mahrez, who was racing through the centre of United’s napping defence.
Poor old Chris Smalling did his best to get back in position in time to stop the winger firing at goal, but could only hold up the Algerian as he offloaded the ball to an on-rushing Vardy.
The striker then coasted into the box, held his composure and neatly slotted home past David De Gea.
Take a look, it’s truly breathtaking.
Honestly, we can’t stop watching it.
It’s rather fitting that Vardy’s 50th Premier League goal comes against United, as his very first came against the Red Devils back in 2014.
It was in that pretty ridiculous 5-3 win, which saw Nigel Pearson’s side fight back back from 3-1 down.
Vardy continues to perform against the very best the Premier League has to offer, with 21 of those goals coming against the top-flight’s ‘big six’.
Not bad for a fella who was turning out for Stocksbridge Park Steels not too long ago, eh?
