Within minutes of El Clasico kicking off Ronaldo had the ball in the back of the net.
But his celebrations were cut short by the linesman who ruled the goal out for offside.
Nae bother, because seven minutes later Toni Kroos pulled the ball back to an unmarked Ronaldo ten yards out.
The Bernabeu held its collective breath.
Ronaldo pulled his left foot back, ready for yet another El Clasico goal.
He was probably already celebrating in his head.
But then something peculiar happened.
Under absolutely no pressure Ronaldo missed.
He didn’t just miss. He fully nutmegged himself, much to the shock of everyone in the stadium.
Of course, Ronaldo being the humble and shy footballer he is, the internet moved on quickly and didn’t dwell on his mistake.
Well, not quite.
Social media was abuzz with people quick to highlight how that one miss was clear evidence that Messi > Ronaldo.
Ahh, good old internet.
It is clearly unacceptable to enjoy the talents of both players without having to slate the other.
We’re going to miss both of them when they’re gone. What is everyone going to argue about?
