Premier League football – the home of power, precision and pace.
Except, that’s not always the case.
After we revealed Manchester City star Leroy Sane was categorically the fastest player in the Premier League this season, it got us thinking: who’s the slowest?
Using data from Opta, we sifted through the players who were bottom of the speed charts, to find only few surprises.
To make it fairer for the players, we didn’t include goalkeepers (that’d be harsh) and the players had to have played over 270 minutes (three full matches) to allow them at least a chance of getting their sprint on.
10 Harry Arter – Bournemouth (top sprint speed this season 30.17 km/h)
Harry Arter, going nowhere fast
9 Leon Britton – Swansea (30.04 km/h)
8 Vicente Iborra – Leicester (30.02 km/h)

7 Pascal Gross – Brighton (29.9 km/h)
6 Mark Noble – West Ham (29.9 km/h)
5 Wilfried Bony – Swansea (29.78 km/h)
4 Dan Gosling – Bournemouth (29.69 km/h)
3 Mohamed El Neny – Arsenal (29.66 km/h)
2 Marcos Rojo – Manchester United (29.65 km/h)
1 James Collins – West Ham (29.18 km/h)
If you’re interested in those who just missed out (mercifully) from this list, the likes of Jack Wilshere, Mamadou Sakho and Jonathan Hogg all sit outside the top ten.
