It sounds like Neymar really wanted Kylian Mbappe to join him at Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.
The Brazilian moved to the Ligue 1 giants from Barcelona in a record-breaking £198million deal back in August, and seemingly got to work right away in convincing the teenager to join him.
Speaking with France Football, Mbappe revealed that Neymar sent him multiple text messages to find out how his summer move from Monaco to PSG was progressing.
He said: “He immediately took me under his wing – in fact, he waited for me.
“Before I arrived late in the transfer window, he would not stop sending me messages. ‘When are you getting here?’ I told him: ‘Wait, I am on my way.’
“However, as it took a bit of time, I think he was thinking: ‘He lied, he is not coming.'”
It seems Neymar then did all he could to help the youngster feel welcomed at the new club.
Mbappe said: “As soon as I finally arrived, he did everything to make me feel at ease.
“On the pitch, he was looking for me and passing to me often.
“When a player like him welcomes you like that, obviously it helps you to settle into the dressing room.”
And it’s all starting to pay off, with the pair developing a strong understanding on the pitch as the Parisians have stormed to the top of the French top-flight with a nine-point lead.
They also topped their Champions League group, with a mouth-watering clash against Real Madrid in the last 16 on the horizon.
Mbappe and Neymar have scored a combined 18 goals in the league so far this season, with the teenager netting five times in his last six appearances.
This is starting to look like the start of something truly special.
