The England international answered Philippe Coutinho's question for him following Liverpool's 4-0 win over Bournemouth

Not all Liverpool supporters have been convinced by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

But the England international won over plenty of fans on Sunday.

Not just with his Man of the Match performance away to Bournemouth, but with his comments during the post-match interview.

Following the 4-0 win, the Sky Sports interviewer questioned Philippe Coutinho over his future — a topic he has been asked to discuss many times since Barcelona’s rumoured interest.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain stepped in and spoke very highly of his team-mate, praising his professionalism and stressing that his devotion to the team has not wavered.

“He’s a Liverpool player right now and he’s been doing really well for us,” he said.

“He’s the most professional person I’ve seen all season. He’s been top quality from the start and every time he gets on the pitch he does his all for the club and that’s the most important thing right now.

“It’s not fair to ask those kind of questions, I don’t think. He gives us his all every game and that’s all we can ask from him.”

Liverpool fans were extremely appreciative of Oxlade-Chamberlain’s response.

One Twitter user wrote “That’s captain material straight off,” while another wrote “Thought this was absolute class from the Ox” and many others posted similar tweets.

Many criticised Jurgen Klopp for spending £35million on Oxlade-Chamberlain in the summer but the ex-Arsenal midfielder has become more influential as the season has progressed.

Coutinho remains the subject of much transfer speculation but for now he is a key figure in one of the best attacking units in Europe.

Hands off, Barcelona…
