The race to be crowned Premier League Player of the Year is on fire.
The top performers continue to produce spell-binding displays.
After Kevin De Bruyne’s man-of-the-match showing against Spurs yesterday, Mo Salah was not going to be outdone.
The Liverpool winger delivered another superb performance as the Reds thrashed Bournemouth away from home.
Philippe Coutinho’s twinkle toes opened the scoring after a magical dribble, Dejan Lovren got the second with a diving header and Roberto Firmino added the fourth.
But, there’s no doubt about it, this was the Salah show.
Every time he faced the Cherries’ left back Charlie Daniels with the ball at his feet there was only one outcome.
The poor defender will be seeing Salah’s shadow flash past him in his nightmares tonight as he saw until he was put out of his misery with a substitution in the second half.
On several occasions in the first half the Egyptian had Daniels on toast as he dipped inside and out to glide into the box.
- Ederson is a better passer than Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli
- Celtics’ 69-game unbeaten domestic run has come to an end
- Wayne Rooney isn’t having any talk of Man City being the best Premier League team ever
His 44th-minute goal was a glaring example of Daniels’ inability to get anywhere near Salah.
He easily outpaced his opposite man to the ball, beat him down the outside before outrageously cutting back inside to his left to curl home.
If you feel like you have seen that goal before this season, you definitely have.
That strike was Salah’s 20th of the season… I’ll remind you we are in December.
He is the first Liverpool player to hit 20 in all competitions in a season since Luis Suarez and the first player to do it before Christmas since Ian Rush in 1986-87.
At £35 million, Salah has to be the signing of the season.
