Sadio Mane is probably getting the cold shoulder from his Liverpool team-mates right now, and it’s got nothing to do with the Merseyside snow.
The Senegalese forward had the chance to give Liverpool a two-goal lead at half-time against Everton, but passed up the opportunity.
Well, actually, passing up isn’t really the right phrase to use in this situation.
Mane drove onto Dominic Solanke’s flick and bypassed a rash tackle from Ashley Williams.
Cuco Martina came over from left-back to close the space, leaving Solanke, Mohamed Salah and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain free to Mane’s right.
A goal was the only outcome, surely?
But, rather than pass, Mane chose to shoot with his weaker left foot.
He dragged the shot way wide of Jordan Pickford’s goal, much to the annoyance of his three team-mates.
We can feel the tension from here.
So don’t be surprised if Mane found himself sitting alone at half-time.
Should we commend the 25-year-old for refusing to take the easy route?
