Once bitten, twice shy.
Not for Carlos Tevez though, who seems hellbent on manufacturing another return to Boca Juniors.
Tevez was left out of both Shanghai Shenhua’s squads for the two-legged Chinese FA Cup final, flying back to Argentina after the second snub.
His coach Wu Jingui said: “He wasn’t named in the squad so he made the decision to go back to Argentina. I understand why – a player of his high level.
“Tevez has made a great contribution, especially in the FA Cup, he’s not like the person that people say – he is hardworking in training, training twice a day, morning and afternoon.”
But that hasn’t stopped Tevez from facing criticism in China, especially as he’s only scored four Chinese Super League goals this season.
Boca are willing to offer around €5million to sign Tevez again, according to L’Equipe.
However Shanghai are understandably demanding more for the world’s highest paid player.
Back in June 2015 Boca signed Tevez from Juventus, with El Apache inspiring his hometown club to a league and cup double.
Has the 33-year-old got one more fairytale return in him?
