Los Blancos were leading 2-1 coming towards half time after Karim Benzema’s first goal in seven games and a Casemiro header from a corner.

Diego Rolan had dragged Malaga level at 1-1 and in the third minute of extra time at the end of the first half Paul Baysse thought he had got another equaliser.

He leapt above Dani Carvajal from a corner and planted a header into the net but the referee blew up for a push on the Real Madrid right back.

The Malaga fans were not happy at all, they sang “that’s how Madrid win” as the teams came off.

Carvajal did not make an effort to get in the air for the challenge against Baysse and lots of the reaction suggests it was a soft decision.

Gonzalo Castro made up for the supposed injustice in the 58th minute with an genuine equaliser.

The Twittersphere seemed to be on Malaga’s side in this debate.
