When Lionel Messi speaks the world listens.
His latest comments make happy reading for the blue half of Manchester.
The Barcelona star picked up his fourth European Golden Boot on Friday after scoring 37 goals in La Liga last season.
In a bumper week for Leo he also inked a new contract with a whopping buy-out clause.
Messi has scored 12 goals already this season as Barcelona sit pretty four points ahead of Valencia in the league and 10 points above Real Madrid.
In addition La Blaugrana are top of their Champions League group and remain undefeated in all competitions this season.
Despite all of that Messi has tipped Manchester City and Paris Saint Germain as favourites for this year’s Champions League.
But he would not rule out the threat from Real Madrid, even though they are currently struggling in La Liga.
“City is one of the strongest teams at the moment together with PSG,” the Argentine told Marca.
“So far, they have been the two teams that have shown themselves to be favourites, but this is a very long and tough competition.
“I never rule out Madrid because although they’re not having the results that everyone expects, I have no doubt that in the end they will be fighting for everything, as they do every year.
“Bayern is another big team that will also be there at the end, but it’s true that today City and PSG are the best.”
Is Messi trying a few mind games by downplaying Barcelona’s chances?
You don’t need mind games when you’re as good as Messi.
