Turkey has become something of a rehabilitation centre for former Premier League forwards of late.
Look through the Super Lig squads and you’ll find Ryan Babel, Hugo Rodallega, Vincent Janssen, Bafetimbi Gomis and Roberto Soldado.
But topping the lot this weekend was Basaksehir’s Emmanuel Adebayor.
Adebayor helped himself to a hat-trick against Galatasaray to take his tally for the season to seven.
The Togo striker made a mockery of Galatasaray’s defence, which included Man City loanee Jason Denayer.
It was business as usual for a man who loves scoring in derbies, as fans of Arsenal, City and Spurs will be aware of.
Basaksehir are one of five top division sides from Istanbul, along with Galatasaray, Fenerbahce, Besiktas and Kasimpasa.
It’s the second time Adebayor has scored a hat-trick against Galatasaray while playing for Basaksehir.
Can we play you every week?
