You will NEVER guess Alberto Moreno’s childhood hero

The Liverpool man had the choice of Spain's golden generation

You’re a young Spanish footballer who has grown up watching the best generation of players your country has ever produced.

It would probably be difficult to choose a childhood hero.

The categories might come down to who excels in your position, the best Spanish player, the captain, the nation’s sweetheart?

No. Not for Alberto Moreno.

Both players came through the Sevilla academy, they’re both Spanish and they both consider themselves wingers who have played as wing backs.

Navas is a Sevilla legend to be fair, making 285 appearances for the club in a 10-year stint between 2003-2013.

The winger had a mixed transfer to Man City. He spent four years at the Etihad but never really won over the fans due to a terrible end product.

While Moreno has shown promise at Liverpool the fans are not convinced his quality in the final third warrants him a place in the team.

Navas does seem a strange choice when the crop of Spanish players Moreno grew up watching includes; Fernando Torres, Joan Capdevila, Xavi, Andres Iniesta, David Villa, Alvaro Arbeloa, Sergio Ramos, Carlos Puyol… need I carry on?

Each to their own, Alberto. Each to their own.
