Neymar, Edinson Cavani and Kylian Mbappe have been laying waste to French and European football since they were expensively assembled at the start of the season.
The new PSG trio have, aside from a few hairy political moments over set piece duty, established an almost telepathic understanding.
But while you might consider the triumvirate the most fearsome strike force on the planet right now, statistically they aren’t even the best in Ligue 1.
Between them Neymar (7), Cavani (13) and Mbappe (4) have mustered a mighty impressive 24 goals in the French top flight.
Especially when you consider it’s barely November.
But they’ve been brought down to size by Lyon’s answer to NCM – Nabil Fekir (11), Memphis Depay (6) and Mariano Diaz (9), who have racked up a sensational 26 goals.
Fekir, in particular, has truly banished his lingering injury issues from a few seasons ago to fulfil his role as Lyon’s captain and heartbeat.
11 goals and four assists in 11 Ligue 1 appearances is a truly astounding return.
But he’s been ably assisted by his partners in crime in Depay and Diaz too.
Manchester United misfit Depay is more than displaying the traits from his PSV days that once made him one of Europe’s most wanted young stars.
And given Real Madrid’s struggles in front of goal this season, will they regret letting Diaz join Lyon for next to nothing in the summer with no option to buy the striker back?
