Kevin De Bruyne is a class act on and off the pitch.
The Belgian midfielder has been the Premier League player of the season so far as the creative heart of the Man City machine currently residing at the top of the league.
De Bruyne started on the bench on Tuesday night as Pep Guardiola’s men hosted Championship leaders Wolves in the EFL Cup Fourth Round.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s troops managed to resist City for 120 minutes, which included 38 minutes of De Bruyne, before finally succumbing 4-1 in a penalty shootout.
Wolves were rightfully praised in the immediate aftermath for doing what no other team has done this season and deny Sergio Aguero, Gabriel Jesus, Leroy Sane and co.
One moment that went under radar was De Bruyne’s show of sportsmanship in asking Wolves’ 19-year-old midfielder Connor Ronan to swap shirts.
These photos perfectly capture the moment…
Just look at Ronan’s face, he can’t believe it.
A moment like this takes just seconds out of De Bruyne’s day but would have meant the world to a teenager just starting out in his career.
Ronan has played just 15 games for Wolves and so for arguably the world’s best midfielder right now to make such a gesture proves that not all superstars have egos to match.
Who knows, maybe Ronan will develop into a world-class player himself and do the same thing to another young upstart one day?
Well played, KDB, you wonderful man.
