Atletico Madrid just drew against a team you can watch for 87p

Diego Simeone's men were held to a goalless draw away to Qarabag in the Champions League

This is why you never put the early kick-off in your accumulator.

We’re not entirely sure how many Atletico Madrid fans made the trip to Azerbaijan but we reckon those that did wished they hadn’t bothered.

The La Liga side were held to a goalless draw by a resolute and disciplined Qarabag side in Champions League Group C.

The visitors had registered just two shots on target by the 75th minute as Antoine Griezmann and company were kept in check the hosts’ organised defence.

With fifteen minutes to go, Qarabag were reduced to ten men when Dino Ndlovu was shown a second yellow card for a dive in Ateltico’s box — a correct decision.

The South African No9 put his side under extra pressure for the remainder of the game but his team-mates stuck to their task diligently to secure a well-earned point.

The Azerbaijani side would have been dismayed earlier this year when they were drawn in a group alongside Chelsea, Atletico and Roma.

But tonight’s defiant performance proves they may have a significant role in determining the outcome of the group.

Official tickets to watch Qarabag in action can be purchased from as little as 87p.

You just have to get to Azerbaijan first.

Well played, boys

The draw leaves the Spanish club with just two points from their first three games and in serious risk of failing to make the knockout stages.

Simeone’s troops have been so impressive in Europe in recent years, twice being denied the pleasure of lifting the trophy by local rivals Real Madrid.

This year however, they look considerably less threatening.

Some might even say toothless.
