We’ve seen some pretty ridiculous saves recently.
David De Gea’s jaw-dropping stop to deny Joel Matip in Manchester United’s drab draw at Liverpool at the weekend was spectacular and, ultimately, game defining.
But Hugo Lloris may have just ousted him.
Tottenham’s captain pulled off a truly miraculous save to keep Karim Benzema out in the Santiago Bernabeu tonight.
When Toni Kroos brilliantly picked out the Real Madrid striker four yards out, you’d have put your house on the Frenchman beating his compatriot.
But Lloris had other ideas.
The Spurs stopper somehow, with his weight going in the other direction, stuck out a foot to divert Benzema’s header to safety:

Now let’s not beat around the bush – Benzema should have scored.
But you also have to give the French goalkeeper a huge amount of credit for his cat-like reflexes.
Hats off, Hugo.
