IRONY OF IT ALL

Adrien Silva’s Leicester City squad number is peak football banter

Well played Leicester City, well played

It’s well documented how much we love squad numbers here at Dream Team.

From Renato Sanches’ botched attempt at wearing the no.85 to Wilfried Bony taking Swansea’s no.2 shirt, we can’t get enough of them.

You would have thought, with the transfer window shutting months ago, that we’d had our fun. Step forward Leicester City.

Now at first glance there’s nothing that strange about Adrien Silva taking Leicester’s vacant no.14 shirt.

But when you remember why Silva isn’t allowed to play for Leicester until January, you can see the funny side.

Leicester missed the deadline to register the former Sporting CP midfielder by 14 seconds.

Banter from Leicester

Ahh, the irony of it all.

The 28-year-old has only recently started training with Leicester after the club made a complete mess of his deadline day signing.

Silva wasnt included in the latest Portugal squad due to his lack of fitness, and now faces a race against time to make their World Cup squad.

Lovely shirt that

But at least he’s able to see the funny side of his situation.

Either that or it’s an incredible coincidence and no one has realised yet.

We wouldn’t put it past Leicester, given recent events.
